PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Interlux Outboard and Outdrive Aerosol Primer is formulated for use on underwater areas of aluminium outdrives and outboards, prior to application of Tri-Lux II or Tri-Lux II Aerosol. Outboard and Outdrive Aerosol Primer is a non bleeding, anticorrosive primer that provides an excellent barrier on metal surfaces, reducing galvanic corrosion.

APPLICATION AND USE

Preparation BARE ALUMINIUM:
Sand with medium grade (grit) emery cloth to a bright metal finish. Immediately apply Viny-Lux Primewash 353/354 thinned 25% with Viny-Lux Solvent 355. Allow to dry for 1-24 hours.

PREVIOUSLY ANTIFOULED SURFACE:
Sand with 80 grade (grit) paper. Clean with Special Thinner 216. Resand any areas where bare aluminium is exposed with medium grade (grit) emery cloth and wipe clean.

Method

Immediately apply Outboard and Outdrive Aerosol Primer to bare areas. At least 2 coats should be applied. Hold can 12-16 inches from the unit when applying the paint. After minimum overcoating time has been exceeded, wipe with Special Thinner 216 and sand before applying more coats. Continue until the entire can has been used per outdrive.

Hints

Mixing Shake can well, listening for mixing ball. Continue shaking for at least 1 minute.

Some Important Points

Do not use above the waterline. Product temperature should be minimum 10C/50F and maximum 35C/95F. Ambient temperature should be minimum 10C/50F and maximum 35C/95F. Substrate temperature should be minimum 10C/50F and maximum 35C/95F.

Compatibility/Substrates

Apply to clean, dry, properly prepared surfaces only. Do not use under vinyl based antifouling paints such as VC Offshore or Baltoplate.

TRANSPORTATION,STORAGE AND SAFETY INFORMATION

TRANSPORTATION:

Outboard and Outdrive Aerosol Primer should be kept in securely closed containers during transport and storage.

STORAGE:

Exposure to air and extremes of temperature should be avoided. For the full shelf life of Outboard and Outdrive Aerosol Primer to be realised ensure that between use the container is firmly closed and the temperature is between 5C/40F and 35C/95F. Keep out of direct sunlight.

Safety DISPOSAL:

Do not discard tins or pour paint into water courses, use the facilities provided. It is best to allow paints to harden before disposal. Remainders of Outboard and Outdrive Aerosol Primer cannot be disposed of through the municipal waste route or dumped without permit. Disposal of remainders must be arranged for in consultation with the authorities.
