APPLICATION AND USE

Preparation BARE WOOD: Sand with 80 grade (grit) paper. Sand smooth. Sanding with too fine a sanding paper will not allow Interstain to penetrate into the wood. Ensure bare wood is clean and dry. If bleaching is required, be sure to neutralize the surface prior to application of any paint product.

Method

Brush the reduced Interstain on bare wood along the grain. Wipe across the grain to remove excess material. Continue wiping until the grain of the wood is not streaky or smudgy looking. The wiping cloth can be any clean piece of material such as old cotton cloth, burlap, cheesecloth, etc. 3 or more coats of varnish should be applied over Interstain following directions on the varnish label. Allow to dry for at least 4 hours, then lightly sand to remove fuzz condition caused by the grain swelling.

Hints Thinner Bare Wood - Brushing Liquid 333.

Thinning Interstain is a thick paste before using. It must be mixed with Brushing Liquid 333 to the consistency of thick house paint.

Other

Use a cloth moistened with Brushing Liquid 333 to even out any streaking.

If Interstain is not thoroughly dry before overcoating with varnish, the filler will lift from the grain and the stain will be apparent on the varnish brush.
