Interlux ACT Ablative Antifouling Bottom Paint
Interlux ACT Antifouling Paint Ablative provides excellent season-to-season protection. Its formula includes Interlux’ Ablative Technology to remove fouling, eliminate coating build-up and with it the need for intensive sanding to remediate. Interlux ACT bottom paint is highly effective to control shell fouling from barnacles and zebra mussels. To combat slime, the paint contains additives that control weeds, slime, and algae growth to keep the boat bottom cleaner longer. In summary, Interlux ACT bottom paint protects against all forms of marine fouling and is recommended for use in fresh, salt and brackish waters.

How to Apply Interlux ACT Bottom Paint
Interlux ACT bottom paint is suitable for use on fiberglass, wood, and painted surfaces. It is important to stir or shake the contents thoroughly before use. Thin only if necessary, and by no more than 10%. If roller or brush drags during application, use Interlux Brush-Ease 433.

Surface Preparation
- Previously Painted Surfaces in Good Condition
- Remove all traces of loose paint and contamination by sanding the entire surface well with 80 grit wet-dry sandpaper.
- Remove all sanding residue.
- Previously Painted Surfaces in Poor Condition
- Completely remove all old antifouling paint using Interstrip 299E for fiberglass and wood.
- For steel, sandblast to near white metal.
- Bare Fiberglass - No Sanding System
- Clean the surface following the procedure above.
- Apply one coat of Interprotect 2000E or Fiberglass No-Sand Primer.
- Following overcoating guidelines for the primer, apply at least two coats of ACT allowing appropriate drying times.
- Bare Fiberglass - Sanding System
- Clean the surface using the Bare Fiberglass procedure above.
- Sand with 80 grit paper then remove sanding residue.
- Apply at least two coats of ACT allowing appropriate drying times.
- Bare Fiberglass - Blister Prevention System
- Clean the surface using the Bare Fiberglass procedure above.
- Sand with 80 grit paper then remove sanding residue.
- Apply Interprotect 2000E to a thickness of 10 mils.
- Apply at least two coats of ACT allowing appropriate drying times.
- Bare Wood
- Sand with 80 grit paper, then remove sanding residue.
- Apply the first coat of ACT thinned 10% with Special Thinner 216 or Brush-Ease 433.
- Fill seams, if necessary with Seam Compound Brown 30.
- Apply 2 or more coats of ACT unthinned.
Application Information
- Apply a minimum of 2 coats of Interlux ACT bottom paint (3 on bare wood).
- For roller application, use a 3/8" nap solvent resistant roller.
- Product temperature should be a minimum of 50°F and maximum of 85°F.
- Do not apply over tin-based copolymer antifouling paints.
